Challenge:
No one has a bigger stake in the science and technology policies being formed today than America’s youth. Decisions made today in areas such as the environment, health, security, and education will have lasting consequences.
Solution:
To build the SEA community and help our members make a difference in their local communities, SEA is launching its University and College Chapters. These chapters will develop the means through which the next generation of scientists and engineers influence the policy arena, expand the forum through which SEA involves scientists and engineers in the political and civic process, and recruit additional SEA members. Membership in chapters is open to students, faculty, and staff.
Result:
SEA’s chapters will provide a way for those in college and university communities to actively influence the interface between science and politics. Members will learn about current events in science and technology policy through hosting speakers or scheduling debates; hone their political activism and advocacy skills through letter-writing campaigns, learning how to write op-eds, or holding workshops on effective campaigning; as well as have a forum for networking with other individuals that care about SEA’s mission and goals.
We need your help to build a nationwide coalition of SEA Chapters. Support SEA’s University and College Chapters.
