Welcome to the official site for the University of Alabama, Birmingham Chapter of Scientists and Engineers for America.

Although our chapter was formally chartered at the beginning of 2009, we embraced energy conservation as our primary goal for the remainder of the 2008-2009 academic year which culminated with a visual display on Earth Day.

While we will continue to follow up with the energy conservation objective from last year, our main focus for the 2009-2010 year will be education. We have initiated community outreach collaborations with the Alabama Math Science and Technology Initiative (AMSTI) and Ujima which will allow us to have a bigger impact on Math, Science, Engineering, and Technology education in grades K-12 within the state of Alabama.

If you are interested in learning more about science policy, becoming actively involved in community outreach projects, or educating the public on the various Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math initiatives that are being considered by the local, state, and federal legislatures; our leadership is actively seeking new members and ideas.
