Biography
SEALS, Dan, a business consultant from Illinois; graduated, Boston University, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), University of Chicago; awarded Presidential Management Fellowship; served as an Aide to the Assistant Secretary of Commerce; served as an Economics Fellow in the U.S. Senate; candidate for U.S. House of Represenatitives in Illinois' 10th congressional district in 2008.

Climate Change
- According to his website, Seals wants to reduce global warming by introducing policies that could reverse harmful practices resulting in greenhouse gas buildup. He would provide funds to make renewable energy sources practical an affordable; increase fuel efficiency standards for cars and light trucks; and put a market-based cap on carbon dioxide emissions from power plants.
Education
- According to his website, Seals criticizes the No Child Left Behind Act, because it imposed unattainable requirements on educators and students and provided limited funding to meet those requirements. His plan will provide low-performing schools and students with resources needed to improve, let educators use standards or growth-based models of assessment, and reduce preoccupation with testing. He also supports measuring Special Education and English as a Second Language students on appropriate scales.
