Innovation
Science and technology have been responsible for half of the growth of the American economy since World War II. But several recent reports question America’s continued leadership in these vital areas. What policies would you support to ensure that America remains the world leader in innovation?
Congress must mandate the math and science lesson plan in schools. It has been far to long that the Dept. of Education has allowed the duming down of education in America. Congress must dedicate monies for inovations to take the world forward in the areas of energy and health.
The threatening of business with tax increases will be a cause for reduction of Americas growth and not a device to stir more creation.

Climate Change
The Earth’s climate is changing and there is concern about the potentially adverse effects of these changes on life on the planet. What is your position on the following measures that have been proposed to address global climate change—a cap-and-trade system, a carbon tax, increased fuel-economy standards, and research? Are there other policies you would support?
There is no greater country than America when it comes to a back to the wall people. Any emmission into the atmosphere is a cause for pollution. The earth has been destroyed even before recorded man on this earth. To now claim man is the cause for all the climate problems is just wrong.
America now has it's back to the wall on energy and clean energy. If government removes the shackles of innovation and allows a free reign mentality to make progress happen, it will happen. The industrial revolution did not have the restrictions we have today. America can go forward, without endangering the enviroment and make America the leader in greening the world, it just needs to allow it to happen.

Energy
Many scientists and policymakers say energy security and sustainability are major problems facing the United States this century. What policies would you support to meet the demand for energy while ensuring an economically and environmentally sustainable future?
Nuclear, wind, solar, bio to some extent as long as it does not reduce the food chain, natural gas and oil recovery in locations best suited to recovery with little to no impact on the enviroment

A comparison of 15-year-olds in 30 wealthy nations found that average science scores among U.S. students ranked 17th, while average U.S. math scores ranked 24th. What role do you think the federal government should play in preparing K-12 students for the science and technology driven 21st Century?
Return to #1. The government is allowing the dumming down of the education system. Allow states the right to educate the youth of America, the federal government was not mandated to get into the education system.
The lack of disclipines in all segments of the education has caused the degrading of education. You have teachers teaching tests and no lesson plans. Allow teachers to teach. Remove the obsticales and allow the free flow of teachers to make a lesson plan and do what they have been trained to do.

Water
Thirty-nine states expect some level of water shortage over the next decade, and scientific studies suggest that a majority of our water resources are at risk. What policies would you support to meet demand for water resources?
As a former Mayor this seems a common sense approch.
Grey water is treated the same a black water. It America's answer to clean, we have moved a times to an extreme and lost common sense. We focus on renewable energy and miss the boat on renewable water and reclaimed water. Science will sole the problem, allow science to work it's magic, much as de-sal and reverse osmosis. Egyptians greened the desert, we can do better 2000 years later.

Research
For many years, Congress has recognized the importance of science and engineering research to realizing our national goals. Given that the next Congress will likely face spending constraints, what priority would you give to investment in basic research in upcoming budgets?
If Congress revisited teh program system that is in place, they will find Billions wasted on programs no longer needed or used. They never seem to review and evaluate something they put in place. If America took care of America first, America would and should make the world better and safer. I don't mean isolation, but if MAerica address it's own people first and made life better, safer, healthier all the world would reap the benifits.
I realize your concern for America as we now know it. My Mother was an American Indian, she knew the answers to all you seek, it is in leaning the earth and the earth will give you the answers. She mostly spoke of health and the healing powers of plants and insects. In my vision I see the fact if Mankind created the problem, it can correct it. The human mind is greater than any computer, education, especially the maths and sciences is the key to making this earth better.

Americans are increasingly concerned with the cost, quality, and availability of health care. How do you see science, research, and technology contributing to improved health and quality of life?
We focus on the ills of yesterday and today. If someone tries to create an answer to cure or repair the illness or affliction, they get sued.
The Government need to step up the grant system and underwrite private research and development and this could resolve the cost associated with such by pharmacutical companies for the cost associated to high cost of drugs.
We need to start looking at teh future desease and illness of strains to come as the research learn strains redevelope and fight known cures.
Too many lawyers not enough doctors.
